I took this one while doing a senior photo shoot. I love the multidimensional affect of the sunglasses. You can see her lovely eyes while at the same time you can see the clouds in the sky!

This picture started as a still life of simple white flower on a black velvet background. I absolutely loved it, then I decided to play with it in photoshop and even though I didn't think it was possible, I made it even better. I love the colors and the contrast and the somewhat abstractness of it!

Now I have to admit the subject of this picture is one of the cutest I have ever seen and I am not biased in the least bit, no way, uh uh, no how.
I love this picture because of how clearly in focus his face and the flower are. The green behind him beautifully frames him. The focus is so clear you can see the ants on the white flower. His expression is contemplative with just a hint of his mischievousness showing through.

So I have decided I am going to start posting some of my very favorite shots here and tell about them. I'm going to start with a new one, which I don't have a name for yet but what's in a name...
I shot this one this past weekend. Ema was along on a Senior shoot I was doing so I snapped a few of her also. I really enjoy the way you can just see a hint of the background scenery on the right. I love the way the light is focused on her face in the mirror and that she is looking at me instead of herself. Every once in a while I take a shot that takes my breathe away and this is one of them!

New Stuff!
So I got some new workshop books today. I'm hoping they will help me get better portraits and composition as well as the exact lighting I want. With very little budget I need to figure out how to accomplish the looks I want in my photos with minimal equipment and cost.
For some reason I seem to have time on my hands even though I should be swamped with school. I need to use this time to transition from iPhoto to Lightroom. It's change and who likes change? NOBODY! Moving from a PC to a Mac was a huge change and I love it so perhaps not all change is bad!

Photography
This is where I talk about photography. I am hoping to write about new things I learn and my experiences in photography. I do this for the love of beautiful photos. I really like to photograph teens and young adults but I also photo children and nature. I'm in love with abandoned buildings and run down barns.
